2017 Shoe Bank Canada Campaign in Nelson

Posted: April 2 - 2017

The 2017 Shoe Bank Canada Campaign in Nelson has started. Just so you know, this initiative was started by a Rotary Club in Kelowna and we have helped out for the past few years.
Please clean out your closets and bring any gently used shoes or boots to the meeting on Tuesday or any Tuesday between now and May 2 or drop them off at the locations listed below.

Thank you to Sandra England who is delivering the Shoe Bank Boxes to various locations in Nelson including Snow Pack, Gaia Rising, Streetclothes Named Desire, Vogue Photographic, Valhalla Pure, Marks, Devitos, Shoes for the Soul, Nelson Husky, Save-On. Thanks to Al Bacon of the Rotary Club of Nelson who is finding volunteers to go and empty boxes and deliver shoes to the Lutheran Church in Rosemont.

Thanks to Lorne for starting to establish a list of volunteers to help out every Tuesday between now and May 2. Unfortunately Lorne forgot the list at a meeting, so I am asking members who previously confirmed that they would volunteer to re-confirm at this time. If we are able to have 6 people volunteer at each Tuesday morning session at the Lutheran Church then we should be able to get the shoes sorted, bound and boxed between 8:30 – 10:30.

At the moment, I have confirmations from the following so please volunteer and/or ask a friend to be a Friend of Rotary and help out:

April 4 – 1. Michael Hoher; 2. Sheila Hart; 3. Sandra England; 4 –?; 5- ; 6-?
April 11 – 1. Lorne Westnedge; 2. Marilyn Miller; 3. Sheila Hart; 4 –?; 5- ; 6-?
April 18 - 1. Lorne Westnedge; 2. Pat Dooley ; 3. Sheila Hart D 4 –?; 5- ; 6-?
April 25 – 1. Meg Milner; 2. Jo-Anne Haun; 3. Marilyn Miller; 4. Sheila Hart (1 hour only); 5. ?; 6. – ?
May 2 – 1. Sheila Hart 2.- ?; 3 – ?; 4 – ?; 5 – ?; 6- ?

Please promote this initiative amongst your family and friends. It is a painless, cost free way of contributing to those less fortunate in Nelson and beyond.

Questions – call me.
